Sandee padded alongside the trees outlining the park, letting the scent of humans fill her nostrils. It was a smell she hated and wished would go away, but it was there, so she tollerated it. The chatter of the people lay on the wind and and sounded like an annoying gnat humming in her ear. Sighing, she lay down defeatedly and stared at them running around on clumsy, unsteady two legs, yelling stupidly and throwing plastic discs to one another. There were some dogs with them, but they neither smelled nor seemed like real dogs. They smelled just like their humans, and had a blank, robotic, sure-to-please smile that covered their faces. She scoffed, and rested her weary head on her paws. Half of her wanted the company of another dog, and part of her still wanted to be left alone.. but no. She was tired of being alone. It had been too long since the disaster, and it was time to move on. From here on, there was no turning back, and just as she vowed this, she heard pawsteps coming toward her and the scent of a strange new dog.

Refflic’s eyes wandered around Memorial Park. Indeed, it was a large one but it was almost deserted. Well, in the playground, at least. Here he was, hanging below the shade of the slide. Sighing heavily, he got to all fours, padding off into the hot sun. Yes, it was extremely hot outside. But he could take a little heat, right?
Trotting across the street, an entrance to the parking lot, he flipped his ears forward. His pace slowed to a steady walk, being tired from running. As he neared the picnic area, he saw the humans. A worried look glazed over his face, but he neared them head-on, ignoring their titters of a dog coming near.
His eyes glanced over the crowd, disinterested, and he smiled as he saw another dog. Smaller, larger ears and feathery fur, but a dog nonetheless. He barked in greeting, smiling in a friendly manner. “Hello there, miss. Mind if I join you?” he asked, politely, tail wagging hard.

Sandee looked up at him in surprise, and started. "Well, hello... sure, sit down..". Moving over, she left a space where he could sit next to her, and waited. This was her chance to make a new start, and she wasn't about to go mess it up. "I'm Sandee," she barked.

Refflic sat down, his eyes glittering with a kind twinkle. It was hot out but he managed to stay kind the whole day. Perhaps laying in the shade did help you. Moistened pads slapped against the dirt, moving into a sleek trot as he led the way around, looking at the little papillion with interest.
Grinning as he shot her a sideways glance, he wagged his tail. “Nice to meet you Miss Sandee,” he said, smiling. She was a pretty gal, indeed, but Refflic didn’t like her like that. He saw her as a friend, though he barely knew her. Tail curving over his back, he slowed down in order for her to catch up if he was going too fast.
“Some heat, hmm?” he inquired, looking up with an irked glare at the sun.

[btw, Sandee's a husky, lol, thatz ok ] Sandee got up and followed him, glad that he wasn't just some pushy male. "Nice to meet you too, Refflic," she replied with a soft smile. Indeed, it was very hot out, and persperation gathered between her paws uncomfortably. "Yes, some heat.." the sun glared down at them, and she wondered why it was so hot already. Maybe it was just one of those days, giving a hint of what summer would surely soon be. Flipping her tail over her back, she gave out a sigh. "So-- i'm new around here. Are there a lot of dogs out here.. the streets, I mean?" It was a bit of a strange question... and it made it quite obvious that she was new to all this 'street life', but she had to know: from a friend... or at least someone she considered to be becoming a new friend. She was willing to learn, and maybe this dog could teach her...
